What happens if I’m involved in an accident with someone who doesn’t have insurance?

In Virginia, insurance companies are required to provide you with what’s called underinsured or uninsured insurance coverage up to the point of your own coverage. For instance, if you have one hundred thousand dollar insurance policy, then you’re underinsured or uninsured insurance coverage would be one hundred thousand dollars total. What that does is that if you’ve been involved in a wreck, where the other driver does not have insurance coverage and you’ve suffered injuries from this wreck, then your own insurance coverage will provide compensation for those injuries up to your policy amount, which in that example was one hundred thousand dollars. If you’ve been in a wreck where the other drivers uninsured, your own underinsured and uninsured policy coverage will cover it. But you need to call an experienced personal injury attorney to help you turn that wreck into a check. Call (540) 586-7225.
